Hi Hi Hi!!!
How are you, my love? I’ve thought deeply about your advice…
“Narshonna, be safe, have fun, never forget those who have supported you, take
pictures, and COME BACK”.
I must admit, Meghan and I were contemplating a way to
stay longer, but, we knew you’d be upset with us, so we’ll return to the dirty
Jerz as planned. (Fingers crossed) j/k
First impressions of CR: Things are absolutely amazing! The moment I stepped onto
Costa Rican land, the air filtered through my lungs tastings like sweet honey
to my body. It's about 80° F with a pleasant breeze.
The plane ride was exquisite—partly because I managed to
sleep through most of it, but somehow awoke just before the pilot announced
that we were passing over a volcano erupting directly at my window. I unfortunately,
did not get my camera out in time to capture it, but I did however, learn about
seven volcanoes in Costa Rica. Don’t panic, the eruptions are mild, but are great
sights to behold nevertheless. For the reduction of your stress level, Meghan
and I will keep a safe a distance should we go to check one out, dear friend.
UPEACE (The University for Peace) is where I work aside
Meghan. Currently, we are preparing for the UPMUNC (The University of Peace
Model United Nations Conference), which will take place next week. There, we will create resolutions to national and international problems with other graduate students from all over the world. I am also
assisting a group of students in directing a play that will depict and discuss issues
concerning identity, unity, values, and conflict. Oh! I may also have the opportunity to work on a production
of the Vagina Monologues here on campus.
Meghan and I are both pretty outdoorsy so we’ll do some hiking, going to the beach and canoeing in the near future. There’s so much to do and so
little time. The campus and our home are filled with students from many
different countries—Ethiopia, South Korea, Columbia, India and much more and of a variety
of religious backgrounds.
And there dogs everywhere! They are really sweet, though. The
dogs make me think of you and your hilarious reactions to wandering animals. LOL
Any who, I miss you so! The first photos are soon to follow
this post, which are dedicated to you, my friend.
Infinite blessings,
Narshonna
Shonna!! It sounds sooooo AWESOME!! I think I'm the next person booking my flight to CR (LOL). I so wish you would have taken pictures of the volcano erupting! I bet that was awesome. I actually climbed Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador and it was active, just wasn't erupting!!
ReplyDeleteAbout the wondering dogs O_o.. not for me, but I'm sure there not that bad it's just in the States where stray dogs attack. Please send Meghan my blessings and you both enjoy UPEACE, it sounds wonderful. Definitely sounds like you are going to be busy in a good way! Lastly, interact as much as you can with the students from other countries it makes you so grateful and I promise you that alone is a life changing experience.
Anyhow, I'm so glad you are enjoying your self, off to homework land I go..
