Dear Mentu Ra

E em Hetep, Mentu Ra!  (aka Captain America) ;-)

How are you, my big brotha’ from anotha’ motha’?
How are things over there in the lovely place of Life Strength and Health? I imagine that I will probably need (clears throat) a visit to ‘the boat’ some time when I get back, but it’s been absolutely detoxifying to be here! It’s about 86 degrees today and I am taking your advice on soaking it all in—the earth, the ocean, the breeze, and the trees are indeed healing me. :-) It would be quite difficult to be of poor health and small attitude amid all of Nature’s blessings and this peacefulness.

I read an ancient Egyptian story about the mythical abyss of beginning of water. In this legend, the Great Mother brought life to birth from the womb of the Abyss (Massey, Ancient Egypt, Light of the World Vol 1, 2008, pp 278). The Ritual is described as the Tuat, a place of entrance… “it is a secret Deep that nobody can fathom, which sends out light in the dark, and its offerings are eatable plants (pp278). (Clearly the author was a vegetarian) ;-)

Seriously though, when I am out and about romping the earth barefoot, and conversing with God, I am thinking of the many ways to unpack this account. I am fantasizing about that unfathomable Deep and in what ways can I, Nini, send out light into darkness. I’ve always defined darkness as the hatreds and injustices which exist in our world, but just imagine how disruptive a great wave of Deep light would be to hatred if everyone did this all at once. Can you imagine?

I consider not just my own accounts of hatred, but the global variety of the accounts of hatred and crises—racism, hegemony, poverty, hunger, classism, sexism, heterosexism, animal cruelty, and the cries of the earth…I consider this and I wonder what uproar this Deep wave of light would do to hatred—even if it was for just a day. If I could create it, I would call it Breath Day.

Breath Day would be a day that the global community just took time to breathe and no one would make any purchases. No one. It sounds silly, but can you imagine how much of an impact the global body would make in an effort to end something like world hunger if for a day, not a single person on the planet bought anything? For instance, just imagine how much money one EZ Pass tollbooth in NJ collects in one day…. Now, imagine if not a single driver chose to use that one tollbooth for an entire day… imagine how much money NJT transit would loose… now, imagine if no one got on the parkway for one day… or all of the highways in the entire state of New Jersey…and now the country… and now the world. I’m telling you, we could end world hunger with just one Deep unfathomable wave of light.

Any who, this is just one of my many imaginings, but Breath Day would certainly be something.

That’s all for now. Dua for all that you do for do! And Khonsu is inspirationally traveling with me. I’ll be sure to get some deep breathing and meditation in next week as I will finnaly have time to return to the beach! YAAAAY!

Infinite blessings to you to brother, mentor, and friend! You are inspirational, Captain Planet! ;)
